Ahhh…The Ignorant
Saturday, June 28th, 2008Louisiana has joined the ranks of the moronic, ignorant, and divisive in epic fashion. Recently passed by the Louisiana state congress, the Louisiana Science Education Act (LSEA) gives local school boards sweeping powers to present, nay, powers to require local schools to “use supplemental textbooks and other instructional materials to help students understand, analyze, critique, and review scientific theories in an objective manner”. The theories up for review? Evolution, and global warming. Why don’t we objectively talk about the separation of church and state and how with a little legalese, you can completely subvert it. Subversion which just so happens to be written (and I mean the bill was written) by fellows of The Discovery Institute, a so-called “think tank” of pseudo-scientists based in the all-too-liberal town of Seattle. If I lived there, I know where I would defecate every day.
The nuts and bolts of this bill are that teachers will be confusing the young minds of Louisiana by tricking them into thinking that evolution is an unsupported theory with little evidence and even less backing from reputable scientists. Which, in fact, is quite the opposite of evolution. Evolution is widely accepted, and more and more of the gaps in the fossil record that the creationists rely on are filled in every god damn day. I really feel for the science teachers in that state that aren’t mentally retarted, it will degrade them inside and out to have to teach this dribble drivel (but as sloot points out, drool or drivel, both are bad). Not to mention, that with the precedent in Dover, there will be lawsuits filed immediately and statewide by the parents who care enough to save their children from the lies. The sweetest part of the deal is that the “supplemental textbooks” used to betray fact, are written and printed by…you guessed it, The Discovery Institute. Why don’t we call up one of those fucktards and ask them the age of the earth? How ’bout that? I think it may be a tad bit older than 6,000 years….FUCK MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS HIGH RIGHT NOW!
The most ironic of it all? Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal was a biology major when he attended Brown. How sad and pathetic is that? He even graduated with honors, and his former genetics professor called him up to ask him to veto the bill, he politely declined.
He either can’t read or he was paid off, no self respecting biologist believes this shit…
I, BRANDON CONDREY, HEREBY PLEDGE TO NEVER EVER LIVE IN LOUISIANA, PARTICULARLY WHEN MY CHILDREN WILL BE IN SCHOOL.
My Congressman Wrote Back!
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008Wow, did you know that at least one person of stature actually reads and responds to questions from the public? Or at least has a staffer do it so I feel cool when I get an email from John C. Porter. In regards to Net Neutrality, please read my congressman’s response:
June 3, 2008
Mr. Brandon Condrey
975 Seven Hills Dr
Apt. 4016
Henderson, NV 89052-4314Dear Brandon:
Thank you for taking the time to contact me and express your views on H.R. 5353, the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008. I appreciate you taking the time to express your views on this important issue.
As you may know, my colleague, Representative Edward J. Markey (D-MA), introduced the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008. This legislation seeks to establish broadband policy and direct the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to conduct a proceeding and public broadband summits. This proceeding and these subsequent summits will then assess competition, consumer protection, and consumer choice. In other words, the FCC would be directed to take a more active role in determining issues relating to broadband Internet access services.
Presently, the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008 is awaiting action in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce of which I am not a member. Please know that I will be sure to keep your views in mind when this legislation is addressed by the House of Representatives.
Again, thank you for writing me. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Jon C. Porter
Member of Congress
Not like he said he would vote for it, or that he even found the issue important, but he “will be sure to keep your views in mind”.
Pretty cool huh?
Net Neutrality, Every Blogger Should Love It…
Sunday, June 1st, 2008I’m not one for speculation, it’s a dangerous tool that leads to pandemonium and paranoia. However, net neutrality has been on the radar for a number of years now, and I thought it was just a rumor. And by and large, it is just a rumor still, but according to this site that I visited today, it’s becoming more serious. Watch this video:
It worried me enough that I wrote my congressman an email, I’ve never contacted a congressman about anything before, but I think this is pretty worth it. There’s a bill in house right now the “Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008″ (House Resolution 5353), I highly recommend reading up on it by clicking the previous link, and also visiting www.savetheinternet.com.
In the event you want to write your voice in the government, put your zip code on this page, and it will give you a form to fill out to send an email to said government, it’s easy!
Old-fashion Alabama Politickin’
Saturday, March 8th, 2008I was in an airport news stand and overheard a group of uppity white Alabama housewives discussing the impending election and who the president will be. There were a few memorable quotes:
“I liked Obama, I thought he was doing a good job, but I think it’s just all for show now”
So when the race gets tight, and the heat is turned up…but nothing has changed in regards to proposed policy, they think it’s all for show. The man can’t help that he gives good speeches, it’s not like he has pyrotechnics.
“Deep down I’m a liberal, but I’d never vote for one. Don’t tell my husband that”
WTF?! Really? Really?! You’re a liberal, deep down, but you’d never vote for one? That makes you a coward, and probably a single issue voter, who likes the idea of a liberal, but is pro-life because God doesn’t like dead babies. Wouldn’t want to be blue in a red state, might look bad at the country club.
“I don’t like the universal health care thing, I don’t want to be told which doctor to see”
I don’t believe that any part of Obama’s health care plan says that you must only see doctor so and so. Fucking suck it up, and realize that there must be a way to nationalize health care, so that everyone has adequate care, without it being the the beginnings of communism…watch Sicko.
“My kids are worried that if Obama is president we’ll have no more guns, they’re like ‘we’re gonna have to use our airsoft guns mamma!’ [uppity housewives laugh]”
Holy fucking crap. I don’t even have a good response to this. It’s probably true, Obama will destroy the guns in the US and melt them down and turn them into health care robots to provide universal health care only once every 6 months, and you’ll have to wait in line for 5 of those months. The police officers of the nation will now carry airsoft guns that shoot those little yellow balls at people, thus rendering all criminals invincible.
Fuck!
